What is the deadline to update Bank account with Aadhaar

As per the recent notification from Govt of India, the deadline to update Bank accounts with Aadhaar is March 31, 2018.

What will happen if you do not update Bank Account with Aadhaar

The Reserve Bank has clarified that, in applicable cases, linkage of Aadhaar number to bank account is mandatory under the Prevention of Money-laundering (Maintenance of Records) Second Amendment Rules, 2017 published in the Official Gazette on June 1, 2017.

These Rules have statutory force and, as such, banks have to implement them without awaiting further instructions. If you fail to update the Aadhaar with the bank account on or before the deadline, ie 31.03.2018, your South Indian Bank account may become fully or partially non-operational.

South Indian Bank requests all customers to update their Bank accounts with their Aadhaar before the deadline issued by Government of India.
